Hello, my name is Katy and I am excited to be joining Learn with SAT as a Primary Tutor. 

 

I originally obtained by BA Hons in Public Relations, then worked in a gym (!) until I had my eldest child and realised that teaching was my true vocation! I gained my QTS in 2016, and have over 5 years experience teaching in primary education including becoming SENDCo. Over the last two years I have been privately tutoring children with SEND or who have needed support with their SATs, or general school work. I have trained in a specialism in Reading strategies and have additional training in Primary Maths. Within schools, I have been heavily involved in SAT’s preparation and understand what is required in Maths, Reading & SPAG and have ran intervention groups to support students in preparation for the exams. I have also had experience in preparing children for the 11+ exam for grammar school.

 

I am a very inclusive tutor and believe that every learner is different. I am passionate about education for everyone,  and use different methods to suit the student’s style of learning. I have had additional training in dyslexia, understanding specific learning difficulties, understanding children’s mental health, and a counselling qualification. I like to work with a student to develop their skills and build confidence within themselves to develop and achieve their goals. 

 

My youngest son is non-speaking autistic meaning I have first hand experience of adapting every aspect I can to help him learn and grow. I think this filters through to my students, as they know I want to provide the very best I can to help them progress.
