Emma Sutcliffe

Hi there! My name is Emma and I am the KS3-5 Geography tutor joining the SAT team.

I have qualified as a teacher and have many years experience of working in classrooms in high schools. Through my role as a Geography teacher, I have prepared many students for their GCSE and A-Levels in Geography, teaching the entire specification and exam preparation techniques. Alongside teaching, I am also an examiner for the AQA specification where I have marked the GCSE Geography papers. In terms of tuition, I have found that this opportunity allows me to offer detailed and experienced input on exam technique and exam skills that examiners are looking for when marking papers, something that I make sure all of my students understand.

Before qualifying as a teacher, I previously worked in the oil and gas industry - an experience I love to draw on within my teaching and tutorials, especially when learning about case studies. As well as using published materials such as previous exam papers, I make bespoke materials for students, so that they are able to develop their geographical skills and structured writing techniques.

I have worked with many students who have needed a confidence boost to get them over the line for GCSE and A-Level, or to gain the highest results for moving onto the next steps in education. My clear explanations can help students gain the results they desire, and understand how examiners mark.
