Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) is a term for when a child with Special Educational Needs (SEND) requires a specific educational setting away from the school environment, tailored to their needs. A child with an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP) could be required to partake in education at home, under a formal EOTAS agreement.

“EOTAS makes educational provision for children with social, emotional behavioural, medical or other issues who, without its provision, cannot access suitable education.” https://www.education-ni.gov.uk/articles/education-outside-school

Your EOTAS journey at Learn With SAT

FUNDING AND EHCP REQUIREMENTS

STEP 1 is to get an idea of the funding that has been allocated to the child in order to get an understanding of the amount of sessions we could provide. We then liaise with parents about their child’s EHCP requirements in order to find the tutors that will best suit the child’s personality, interests and SEN profile.

TRAINING OUR TUTORS ON THE EHCP REQUIREMENTS

STEP 2 is to then spend time training the tutors of the in’s and out’s of the EHCP, so they can understand what your child requires in order for the EHCP objectives to be met.

CREATING A TIMETABLE

We then create a timetable that focuses on your availability. This ensures that your child is receiving the best education at a time that suits them! The lesson content can be discussed, changed or manipulated with you so that the content can support the child’s interests, while still completing the LA’s objectives.

The tutors at Learn With SAT are not only experts in EOTAS, but also have years of experience handling the details of the provision required by the local authorities.
We provide guidance and support to those participating in the EOTAS journey, and are here to help. Therefore we have created a list of activities we offer at Learn With SAT.
