HI, I am Maalan and I am currently a 3rd year medical student and I have been tutoring for 3 years, whether that be in person or online. Some of my interests include fitness (gym) and professional esports due to me enjoying the tactical aspect of it.

 

I have an innate passion for helping students around me and make them realise their potential once guiding them in the right direction. My methodology of tutoring is backed up by my Tutoring Standard's certificate and my ability to problem solve under time restraints.

 

My academic performances ranging from my A Levels to even achieving the Rector's Award (scholarship) within university stem from methods that I currently use in tutoring such as active recall, which has contributed to much success with my students. I have taught privately and in group classes, which has made my communication skills more effective as I direct my teachings accordingly.

 

On top of this, I have taught subjects from KS3 to A Levels such as Triple Science and Economics and this highlights my flexibility and versatility overall. Whilst working under a company, I had the opportunity of developing how I go about tutoring the same concept to different students in the same group given that they comprehend ideas in various ways. Furthermore, tutoring privately to individuals until now has allowed me to gain more interpersonal skills and ensure that my student understood everything by constantly enquiring or asking questions.

 

This active feedback made my students not only develop more confidence, but also more engaged and overall retain information better. I am comfortable with using a range of platforms like Lessonspace and Zoom, as long as it allows the use of my iPad to visually explain topics.
