About Me

LEAD TUTOR

Hi, I’m Tabitha, an accomplished secondary science teacher with over 12 years of experience in the classroom in Southampton City and Hampshire schools. In my career I have gained a wealth of experience in a variety of roles, subjects and newly in online learning.

My early career started with volunteer work at Saints Study Support centre where I worked as a teaching assistant to support and engage underachieving KS2&3 pupils in literacy, numeracy and ICT. I went on to complete a GTP with Southampton University, completing the course with an ‘outstanding’ grading. Over the last 10 years I worked not only as a classroom teacher but also as a BTEC Science Lead Teacher and Assistant Leader of Science.

My caring and passionate nature means I have a reputation for building effective relationships with students, carers and staff to ensure all children make progress. I truly believe in a holistic view to supporting pupils and good communication is key to this. My passion for science and the understanding of the world around us continues to engage a variety of learners in KS3 and KS4, and now including my own children.  I tutor science from KS2 to KS4 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics across a range of levels. In 2019 I was diagnosed with a brain and spinal cord condition that has meant I have had to retire from classroom teaching, for now, but I am excited to continue to do what I love in a new tutoring role.
